A guide to podcasting
A COMPLETE GUIDE TO
PODCASTING
To receive many listeners on your podcasts , social media will play a big part . Once you have published your podcast on Spreaker or another podcasting site , it will give you the option to share your podcast on many different social media platforms. The more platforms you share it on, then in most cases the more listeners you will receive. By sharing it on Facebook for instance, that can boost your listeners by over 50%. By also sharing your podcasts, you can receive feedback from your listeners and can get involved with your audience. Listeners love to interact with you so they can connect with what you are saying.

Once you have finished creating and editing your podcast, you need somewhere to upload it to. There are many websites out there which offer you this, but like I did with my software section of my blog , I have chosen my favorite site, which is Spreaker. Spreaker is a website in which you can create and listen to radio and podcasts. On Spreaker you can upload your podcasts, and even create podcasts online with Spreakers online DJ console or the desktop version also you can download the Spreaker app on Apple, Android and Windows devices. The only downside to Spreaker is that you start of with a free a certain amount worth of audio storage and once you use that up (from all of your podcasts and other audio) you have to pay and upgrade and I can tell you one thing now, your audio will quickly use up all your space. In my opinion Spreaker is the best podcast site out there. To create a free account click this link : Free Spreaker account Software is very important when it comes to podcasting. This is where you will record all your audio onto, and edit it down to make it sound professional. You can pay alot of money for software but I use free recording software called audacity. I personally think audacity is the best free software out there and is really easy to use once you learn the basics. On audacity, you can cut and record audio, change the sound of the audio, import audio, record audio and thats only some of the things you can do. The thing I like most about audacity is its simplicity, you can create great sounding podcasts easily and quickly. The first is being what you are going to podcast about. Will it be technology reviews, gaming, current affairs, music or a wide mix of things like I do. You need to know what you are going to talk about so the listener doesn't get bored of listening to you making mistakes, and realizing what you are saying is untrue.
When podcasting there are a few essential things you need to get the best sounding podcast. The first thing is the microphone. There are many different microphones that sound great and they don't have to break the bank. Here is a list of my top favourite podcasting microphones, that sound great and are great value: (Please note these are all USB microphones as they are the best value and most portable).
(Please note these are all USB microphones as these are usually cheaper than XLR microphones and are the most portable). |
